Instead of focusing on gaining levels, learning spells, or buying new equipment, the game is all about fighting orcs and other creatures from the famous literary trilogy. Players start out as Frodo, but later play as Strider (Aragorn) and Gandalf as well. Based on the written works of J.R.R. Tolkien (not the Peter Jackson movies), the Xbox game was developed by WXP and is a completely different game from the PC and PlayStation 2 games also published under the same title.
